Zoink’s VR project was the result of nostalgia and a fascination for what VR could be through that particular lens. VR has not been that profitable for many developers yet, but some indie studios are banking on the creative rewards inherent in embracing the technology.
He’s partnered with Sony on PSVR-exclusive Ghost Giant, which doesn’t have a firm release date but is likely shipping early next year. Zoink CEO Klaus Lyngeled’s next step is into the world of virtual reality. With well-received games like Fe and Flipping Death, and the creation of the Thunderful Group which now serves as the parent company to both Zoink and Steamworld Dig studio Image & Form Games, the developer is poised for growth.
Just keep some tissues handy as it does pull on those heart strings.Swedish studio Zoink Games is coming into its own. I don’t want to spoil too much about this game, other than letting you know it is simply amazing and well worth the asking price (if not a little more). This is not just a good game, its a moving game, a game that puts my faith back into VR and a game I know wouldn’t be half as enjoyable if played on a 2D screen. Despite is wonderful, happy looking cartoon world that is fully interactable, this is a dark game, with dark lessons on depression and anxiety for you to learn. Ghost Giant is probably THE best game I have played on the Oculus Quest for a number of reasons. Review: I will say it now so that it is out of the way.
